Rosa Mosqueta Products

David Steinman By David Steinman, from Healthy Living

Rosa Mosqueta: Powerful, Clinically Validated Skin Healing Properties of the Rose of the Andes by Megan Shields, M.D. I've been looking at amazing before-and-after photographs of participants in a clinical trial who used a special oil taken from a rose that grows in the southern Andes of South America (see next page). Although officially known as Rosa aff. Rubiginosa, its common name is Rosa Mosqueta. Prematurely aging skin, difficult-to-heal wounds and acne scarring are all common concerns among my patients. I believe that with Rosa Mosqueta we now have an exceedingly powerful, clinically validated topical healing agent that I will be sure to tell all of my patients about-especially those concerned with scarring from acne or trauma and other cases of severely damaged skin, including premature aging.

Clinical Validation

The history of the scientific and clinical validation of this important skin rejuvenator begins in 1978 when Fabiola Carvajal, M.D., of the microbiology department at Concepción University in Santiago, Chile, was brought a reddish-amber colored oil rich in essential fatty acids and told it was taken from a mountain rose long used by the native peoples of the region for their skin. Dr. Carvajal was familiar with the plant and decided to clinically study the oil for its impact on patients with skin wounds from radiation, ulcers, brown spots, dry skin, and other conditions of poor skin health.

"The results were superb using Rosa Mosqueta oil and cream in all our clinical studies, even with scars over 20 years old and with patients who had not improved using other therapies," she says. "Burns (including sun-damaged skin and radiation burns), chronic ulcerations of the skin (such as that with paraplegics and bedridden invalids), skin grafts, brown spots, prematurely aging skin and dry skin all benefited with Rosa Mosqueta."

Radiologist and oncologist Hans Harbst, M.D., has also worked with Rosa Mosqueta oil and found it to be excellent for treating skin problems following radiation therapy. In one case, says Harbst, "a man who had his whole head radiated due to a brain tumor had no signs of radiation damage after four weeks of treatment with Rosa Mosqueta oil." Another patient who showed an acute dermatitis after radiation had an excellent recovery 24 hours after treatment with the oil. "The skin had actually regenerated."

The results of Drs. Carvajal and Harbst were most recently confirmed in a 1990 study in which the oil of Rosa Mosqueta was applied to ten patients affected by leg ulcers and post-surgical wounds "with very notable improvement on . . . healing compared with the control group." The researchers concluded, "Due to the lack of side effects, we believe rose of mosqueta oil is very useful to these conditions." T References Moreno Gimenez, J.C. et al. Based on the work of Dr. Carvajal, Aubrey Hampton, of Aubrey Organics, introduced Rosa Mosqueta oil in the United States in 1986. "The examples of skin improvements using Rosa Mosqueta oil and cream seem almost miraculous, but when combined with other anti-aging herbs that I've discovered in three decades of formulating natural cosmetics, the results are even better," says Hampton. That's why, although Rosa Mosqueta® Rose Hip Seed Oil contains pure Rosa Mosqueta oil, you can also find this important skin rejuvenator combined with other anti-aging herbs for the skin in Rosa Mosqueta® Rose Hip Moisturizing Cream which also contains aloe vera, horsetail, coltsfoot, nettles, coneflower, St. John's wort oil, calendula, almond oil and vitamins A, C and E with an essential fatty acid base. I recommend that for skin care you start with both formulas: Rosa Mosqueta® Rose Hip Seed Oil and in Rosa Mosqueta® Rose Hip Moisturizing Cream.

Based on the work of Dr. Harbst with his radiation patients, Hampton has also used Rosa Mosqueta in sun care products by combining it with aloe vera and other herbs in Rosa Mosqueta® Sun Protection Butter SPF 15.

And because of its clinically validated hair-rejuvenating benefits, you will find the oil of this unique rose also used in Rosa Mosqueta® Rose Hip Herbal Shampoo and Rosa Mosqueta® Rose Hip Conditioning Hair Cream.

The Aubrey Organics Rosa Mosqueta formulas are one of the best selling lines of cosmetics today in the natural products industry. You can also find Rosa Mosqueta used as a key ingredient in Aubrey Organics' cleansing bars, body soaps, lotions facial toner, herbal mask and bath jaléa.
